Pega adds to citizen developer armory

Business software provider Pegasystems aims to improve the lot of citizen developers by offering new Pega Platform templates, training courses, and services.

Pega’s low-code approach takes some of the load from IT professionals by allowing business users to create their own applications, and the company says the latest developments make the task even easier.

Importantly, Pega Platform’s low-code capabilities include technology-supported governance to enforce best practices.

The new templates for Pega App Factory cover common business processes such as information collection, requests and approvals management, personnel onboarding, and task management.

Low-Code Maker Mission is a new, free, 90-minute Pega Academy course designed to provide would-be citizen developers with the skills needed to create their first app.

Low-code Factory Accelerator is a forthcoming service from Pega Consulting Services to help customers establish citizen development programs. Available from 3Q22, it will include training for practice managers, coaching for citizen developers to build applications, and the creation of roadmaps for reusable integrations and shared components.

“Citizen development is more than giving business users a low-code platform and letting them run with it – it requires a holistic approach that focuses on technology and the people and processes needed to create applications,” said Pega CTO Don Schuerman.

“Organizations need the technology, best practices, and governance to feel confident and secure in empowering their business users while easing the burden on pro developers. These new Pega offerings help create harmony between business and IT while enabling organizations to go to market faster and innovate like never before.”

The new features will be demoed during the PegaWorld iNspire conference being held virtually on 24 May from 9:00 am to 11:30 am US EDT for the Americas and Europe, and on 25 May from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm AEST for Asia Pacific.
