WHY IS THE XBOX SERIES X SO HARD TO GET?

If you’ve been struggling to find an Xbox Series X console, you’re not alone. Similar to the PlayStation 5, the Xbox Series X is suffering from ongoing supply chain issues that were brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The console is also currently in high demand, which means it’s a near-instant sell out every time it is restocked. Luckily, Australian stockists are starting to receive the consoles more frequently, making it worth keeping an eye out for new drops. You can find a list of stockists below.

WHERE TO BUY THE XBOX SERIES X

While most retailers are currently out of stock of Xbox Series X consoles, these are the retailers to watch if you want to snap one up. When shopping online, be aware that many prices have been gouged and that the RRP of the Series X is actually $749.

The Gamesmen

At the time of writing, The Gamesmen has a limited supply of Xbox Series X bundles in stock. The bundle offer includes both the Series X console and an additional white Xbox Controller and is priced at $839.90.

Microsoft Store

It’s a bit of a no-brainer that Microsoft is on this list, given that the brand makes the Xbox Series X consoles. Its online store has also been dropping stock more frequently in recent months and should be the first place to receive consoles the next time they become available.

amazon australia

As one of the largest online stores in the world, Amazon holds a lot of sway when it comes to receiving shipments of highly sought-after products. We recommend bookmarking its’ Xbox Series X page and checking the ‘see all buying options’ tab regularly.

Be aware that some products are sold through third-party sellers, so it pays to check out the buyer before committing to a purchase.

Big W

Department store Big W receives small orders of the Xbox Series X fairly regularly, making it worth adding to your watch list. The site does also have a ‘coming soon’ sign on its Series X listing, which you may want to take with a grain of salt, but it is still a promising sign.

eBay Australia

With items from both big name stores and third party sellers on offer, eBay Australia is a great place to check for Xbox consoles. You can actually find a bunch of Series X consoles for sale on the site right now, but you will need to be prepared to pay a lot more than the RRP for them. Be mindful that some stock is also second-hand.

JB HiFi

JB’s is one of the largest electronics retailers in Australia, which makes it a great place to shop for gaming consoles. At the time of writing, the site seems to have pulled its Xbox Series X listing, which means there is currently no way to purchase or pre-order the console. You can, however, keep an eye on its main Xbox page to see if it reappears in the coming months.

EB Games

EB Games sells both new and refurbished Xbox Series X consoles, effectively doubling your chance of snapping one up. Similar to JB Hi-Fi though, the site is currently not listing the console, so you will need to keep tabs on its Xbox page and wait for a new listing to pop up.

Harvey Norman

Harvey Norman is yet another Xbox stockist that is not currently displaying the Xbox Series X on site. It has offered pre-orders in the past though – with the last stock replenishment on 12 May 2022 – so it’s worth keeping an eye on its Xbox page.
